Class Description:

If you want to gain confident control on all aspects of color and color mixing, then this workshop is for you!

Confident handling of color offers artists of all levels the ability to unlock luminous paintings. Learn a system to mix any color swiftly and accurately, even with only a limited selection of paint colors. In this workshop intensive, students will dive deep into the mysteries of color. The focus of the first two days will be on understanding color attributes, exploring the color wheel, and practicing color mixing exercises. The instructor will demo many palette techniques and students will explore the science of light and its relationship to color. The second half of the workshop will explore strategies for painting flesh tones. Students are encouraged to bring an in-progress painting for one-on-one feedback.

Meet Your Instructor

Maggie Rose

Instructor

Maggie Rose is a Canadian artist living and working from her Toronto, Ontario studio. Maggie completed her undergrad at the Ontario College of Art and Design and received her M.F.A. from the New York Academy of Art, graduating cum laude in 2001. She has been the recipient of several awards including the Forbes Foundation Travel Grant and the Prince of Wales Scholarship for writing on art and education. Maggie has exhibited in many New York galleries, has had solo exhibitions in Nashville where she has had features in Nashville Arts magazine, and is currently working on a body of work with a focus on painting flesh and stone, for exhibition in Toronto. Maggie has been a passionate teacher for decades; she continually receives rave reviews from students who often attend her classes multiple times.
