Class Description:

Bring your figure drawings to life through the expressive potential of graphite!

Designed for students of all experience levels who wish to deepen their understanding of the human form through close observation and sustained practice. Over six weeks, we will develop a single long-pose drawing, focusing on the expressive power of gesture and the subtle relationships of light and shadow. Students will explore a variety of graphite techniques, such as hatching, stumping, brushing, and blending, to discover different ways of building form and texture. Emphasis will be placed on perceiving structure, refining proportion, and cultivating sensitivity to value and edge. By the end of the course, participants will not only complete a finished drawing but also gain a more thoughtful and disciplined approach to seeing and representing the figure within the classical drawing tradition.
