Class Description:

Obtain a deep understanding of the human figure in order to improve your figure drawing skills overall.

The works that we will be copying in this in-person course will be created using a multifaceted method, examining the effects of light and shadow on the figure, its proportions, the characteristics of the pose, the figure’s structure, and its underlying anatomy. We will work from both photographic references and Masters’ works, studying male and female figures in a variety of poses and techniques. Some sessions will be dedicated to observational figure drawing from reference material, focusing on realistic rendering through a range of techniques. Other sessions will emphasize the anatomy and structural understanding of the figure, while additional exercises will explore the dynamic and expressive aspects of the subject. Working in person will allow for direct guidance, demonstrations, and individualized feedback throughout the process.
