Class Description:

Learn how to develop strategies and design plans in order to create a successful landscape painting.

Through a series of projects done from photos students will make sketches, value and color studies and create a multi- session painting. At the conclusion of the class, students will have a learned an effective approach to landscape painting.

Meet Your Instructor

Dennis Cheaney

Instructor

Dennis W. Cheaney is a NY based artist, writer, and teacher. Dennis received his MFA from the New York Academy of Art (1998), where he was an Andy Warhol Foundation Scholar studying under the renowned artist Edward Schmidt. Additionally, he studied with Jacob Collins, Michael Grimaldi, and Ted Seth Jacobs. From 2003-2009 he was director of his own art school, New England Realist Art Center, in Boston, MA. Dennis has given intensive workshops at the Copley Society of Boston (coso), Bay Area Classical Artist Atelier (BACAA), Long Island Academy of Fine Arts (LIAFA), and the New York Academy of Art (NYAA). He also received the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grant in 2001.
