Through direct painting methods, students will learn about various features of a landscape such as clouds and sky; grass and trees; and sunsets and misty mornings. Each week, we will take a set of features of a landscape, analyze the light gradation and explore color mixing options. The instructor will guide you in what paint colors to mix and how to use the brush to create the desired effect. We will be working from photos that showcase these features in normal lighting conditions such as a typical sunny day but other conditions may be explored. At the end of the class, you will have numerous painted studies, rather than a single finished painting, that showcase the proper technique for each feature.
