Class Description:

This is a full-day course that includes both a morning session on Figure Drawing and an afternoon session that will cover Classical Painting Techniques.

In the drawing session, students will explore the timeless art of classical figure drawing. This comprehensive course is designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of capturing the human form with precision, grace, and artistic expression. Guided by the principles of classical artistry, students will explore the intricate details of anatomy, gesture, and composition. During the painting session, students will get the most useful tools, methods, and techniques to learn the fundamentals of drawing and painting. Students will be taught elements of design and composition, likeness and proportions, value relationships, volume, structure, and, of course, color. We will begin the course by going through artist tools and setup before discussing different ways that drawing and oil painting can be approached and how these mediums have been used throughout time. Every student, depending on their level and experience, will be taught individually according to their interests and needs. The instructor will conduct live demos throughout the course. Students will be given individual assignments to develop their skills and will be guided through every stage of their drawings and paintings from start to finish.
