This class will explore different ways in which graphite may be applied and manipulated on paper (pencils, paint brushes, stumps, erasers, etc.) and how these varying strategies may be deployed in service of a full and lifelike drawing.

This course explores the fundamental elements of drawing and oil painting from direct observation.
In this class students will learn my specific process for approaching portrait painting. We will cover how to draw faces, how to do an underpainting, rendering a painting area by area, and how to optimally manipulate oil paint.
