Class Description:

Want to improve both your painting skills and your social media presence?

This two-day workshop is designed for artists looking to refine their oil painting techniques while simultaneously learning how to create engaging painting process videos for Instagram. Students will complete a single painting from direct observation of a live, clothed model, exploring indirect painting methods such as imprimatura, velatura, glazing, and scumbling. While working, they will also receive instruction on filming their painting process using their smartphones. Through demonstrations and lectures, students will learn essential techniques for painting, videography, and posting. By the end of the workshop, each participant will have created an indirect oil painting, edited a short painting process video on their smartphone, and posted it as a Reel to their Instagram account (if they so choose to) — gaining valuable insights into both artistic and digital storytelling.
