Class Description:

A progressive approach to classical clay modeling from the live model.

Develop your creative vision and sense of rhythmic sculptural form while learning the skills needed to manifest it. Students will learn to block in the portrait while working from a live model. A strong sense of likeness, proportion, anatomical structure, understanding contour in three dimensions, and expression through form will all be addressed. Custom armature building will be taught, finishing techniques and surface treatment will also be discussed. This class is intended to develop the student’s own creative vision and sense of rhythmic sculptural form. Instructor demonstrations and ample work time will be provided for students to learn and capture their own creativity. Because this class is open to students from beginning to intermediate levels, the instruction in this class is highly individualized. Each student is encouraged to work at his or her own pace.
