Class Description:

In this workshop students will get familiar with using water-based clay to create a life-sized portrait bust.

Students will delve into the intricacies of facial and trunk anatomy, gaining a deep understanding of the underlying structures that define the human form. Guided by your expert instructor, students will progress from basic, simplified shapes to intricately detailed and expressive portrait busts. Whether you are a beginner, eager to explore the art of sculpture, or an experienced artist seeking to refine your technique, this class offers a supportive environment for growth and creative expression. The first 3 days will be dedicated to sculpting from life and the last day will be spent hollowing out the portraits in preparation of firing them in the kiln to take home. This workshop will take place across two weekends in January 2024.
