Class Description:

Whether you are brand new to oil painting or have a little painting experience but want to dive into indirect painting, this class is for you!

Curious how the Old Masters did it? But also excited to see what some New Masters are up to? This course gives you the option! We will build on what we have learned in Part I, but will also dive into an entirely new technique and work from a live model. We will study Rembrandt, explore his use of ground, wipe out painting, limited palettes, and light massing to create dramatic compositions. You will have the option to continue one painting for the entire six weeks or begin another painting at the halfway point that explores more modern, highly chromatic pigments. I will talk about contemporary artists using these “old” indirect techniques in fresh and exciting ways.
