Class Description:

An in-depth study of drawing from the Old Masters.

This course immerses beginner and advanced artists in a drawing practice in which they observe and interpret the mark-making of certain masterworks. This session focuses on major masses of the human figure. The first three weeks begin with studies of the head, neck, torso, and legs, followed by a long pose full figure drawing for the remaining weeks.

Meet Your Instructor

Rami Baglio

Instructor

Rami Baglio is an American artist based in Northampton, Massachusetts. She works in oil paint and assorted drawing media, exploring various forms of portraiture and perceptual drawing and painting. Observing from life as a means of understanding light, form, and movement, is integral to her work. This process serves as an access point for investigating the psychology and underlying emotional states of her subjects. The observational nature of her work aligns with mental health awareness, seeking to exemplify mindful interaction with the world. She is the recipient of numerous awards in the arts and exhibits work internationally. Rami has a comprehensive background in figure drawing and painting. She spent years studying classical drawing and painting with Studio Escalier, The New York Academy of Art, Florence Academy, The Ryder Studio, and the Art Students League of New York. She holds an MFA from The New York Academy of Art and a BA in studio art from Hampshire College.
