Class Description:

Explore the unique process of landscape painting with gouache on black paper to create glowing atmospheres in this weekend workshop.

This method will change how we think about light and color. We will use the paper to create shadow and depth rather than light, while light will be achieved by layering color. We will explore several different gouache techniques which will be used to paint a landscape from a photograph of your choice. We will also discuss the use of the photograph as reference and discover ways to use the image as a tool while being inventive with color, shape, and composition.
