Class Description:

This class is for everyone who wants to reconnect with drawing, particularly those who want to feel and put feeling back into their art.

We are going to kick all of the “shoulds” out of the room during this weekend workshop and embrace our intuition as well as the sometimes unexpected results. We will put aside exacting instruments such as angles and measuring tools, and plumb lines and instead engage in our drawings, personal mark-making, and artwork. To further our goal of expression we will focus on using pastels and their unique properties as pure pigment. Pastels have long been used to create expressive works. We will work not only in line but in tone as well as showing off pastel’s ability to mimic indirect painting techniques. In addition to drawing from a live model, there will be a paper toning demo and discussions on color theory, composition and options in preparing pastel works for display.
